Gastronomical Delight

Some of the other wonderful goodies I came away from Gemmas house with were these little beauties...

Passionfruit Syrup and Lemon Myrtle shortbread (just add butter).

Gemma had made some of the shortbread for us to eat whilst we were at her house and oh my..they are divine. I had some of the syrup on icecream (a treat!!) when I got home and wow - so sweet with a hint of tartness....so delicious.

Another reminder of an awesome weekend!

A Knitter I Am Not....

but I give it a bash!

Recently I read a post over at Posies blog about some items she was making for the HeadsUp @ Calvary Hospital in Bruce in the ACT.

I love helping out - its so rewarding and putting good karma out there is an excellent tonic for this world.

So I decided to knit a scarf....so far I have knitted just the one. Its made some some deliciously soft Bendigo Wool Mills yarn which I thought would feel nice...its only in a knit two purl two rib but its warm and made with a bundle of love.

Im going to send it Posies way. I hope someone wears it and feels warm and safe and healthy and feels the love with which it was knitted.

If you can help - drop Posie a line - shes tops and would love to hear from you.

The dolly arrived today and she is stunning! I think she is the most adorable things I have ever seen. She even came with a teddy of her own. I am going to give her to Lainey at nap time so they can become acquainted.

A Job For A Friend

Lesley at Crafty Mamas referred me to some people which ended up in jobs for Koo-Toor Creations.

She needed some hats sewn up and as a thank you I offered to do them. She sent me some fabric and this is what I made. They have been made using the Mamu Designs Mia Reversible Hat pattern found here at Crafty Mamas.

Lesey can be found here.

For a Friend

My friend Tracey is about to have a baby. And she wanted everyone at Crafty Mamas to help celebrate that. She asked us all to participate and make a 61/2 inch by 61/2 inch square for a quilt.

I decided to stitch something as I am not a quilter and I could definitely stitch something. I then wrote on it in fabric marker. I didn't realise until I started writing that the children have pushed too hard on the nibs of my markers so it made them a bit furry....but I am sure Tracey wont mind...I hope so anyway!

Congratulations Tracey and I hope you like my square. It was made with love.

Little Boozle Bag Giveaway

To celebrate 100 posts Andrea is giving away a bag...in your choice of colours! Now Andrea is a bit of a legend around Crafty Mamas as being the doyen of duffle bags, the mistress of market bags, the queen of the clutch...so to win one of her bags would be awesome.

Just leave a comment about which group of fabrics (she has about 4 choices) you would like your bag made from and hopefully she will draw your number!

Check it out here....

Good luck and thanks Andrea :)

No Rest For The Wicked.....

We have just completed what could possibly be the most busiest weekend on record! We had three major events to go to and each was special in their own right.

Saturday saw us celebrate our god daughters 5th birthday. It was held in a park in Bayswater and Peta and Matt did a wonderful job of organising a bbq lunch and pony rides for all of Alyssas friends and family. It was also lovely catching up with all their family as we have known them for some time now.

Jack loved the horse rides where as Lainey was definitely not impressed...

Saturday night saw Mike and I attend the engagement party of our very good friends Caz and Dex. They have been together forever and finally got engaged! The wedding is in July next year so watch this space! Forgive the pic as I took it on the mobile!

On Sunday Mike and I attended the wedding of a colleague of his. She has terminal bowel cancer and her last wish was to marry her partner James. It was a very very sad affair and it was hard to keep in mind that it was supposed to be a celebration. I hope she is peaceful and resting in the hospice with her family and friends around her.

So that was our weekend...this weekend promises to be quieter...I hope!

My Very Clever Husband...

built a veggie patch today! Our very good friend Matt came all the way over from Chittering to help and after my Meals on Wheels run I pitched in too. The kids entertained themselves and by about 4pm here is what we had...

This is a pic of Jack and Lainey with my god daughter Alyssa - who is Matts daughter. She is adorable and came with her brother Lochie.

It was great and I cant wait to plant the veggies on Sunday. We bought seedlings at Bunnings the other day and they are ready to go.

Family Holidays Fun

Goodness me what a busy time we have had! We got home this morning after a wonderful extended long weekend away. Mike and Jack are on two weeks school holidays and we are making the most of our time.

We spent Saturday watching the Grand Final with friends here in town. That was great fun and we got home and packed to go away with other friends (aren't we popular!!.) We drove down to Mandurah very early Sunday morning and spent that night with the Jenkinsons and the Broads. We jammed so much into the 24 hours such as fishing, swimming at the beach, bbqing, fish and chips and ice cream on the foreshore, staying up late and chatting and generally having a wonderful time. Nothing like special friends to rejuvenate the soul. The kids had a ball with the other kids there. I hope we get the chance to go to the Jenkinsons holiday home again soon.

Then we drove back to Perth on the Monday and went to the Perth Royal Show in the afternoon. It was wonderful and we went with Mikes parents as we do every year on the holiday Monday. The show was wonderful - the numbers we down on the day we went which was great. And we stayed for the fireworks and that was amazing. Really well done. lollies, games, rides, show bags and the usual splurges were had and we got back to Mikes parents place about 10pm. The kids and us were well and truely done. I love the show! Its a great day out.
