SewBaby Double Duty Bag No2

I made one of these bags a little while ago for my MIL. When I gave it to her my SIL saw it an really liked it. So I made her one. She is a teacher so I used the Kelani bought Look and Learn in Olive fabric from my stash. I love this pattern and I love how this came out.

She doesnt know its coming but its highly unlikely she will read this so I have no problems posting here about it!! I hope she likes it!

Laineys PJs

I have now finished a pair of summer jammies for both the kids in knit. I had a hard time with this one and believe it or not the top started as a dress from Ottobre...but I think i may not have out the seam allowances on. So I knocked up a pair of pants from simplicity to match and away we go.

One of my resolutions for 2009 is to get alot better at knit fabrics. I love them, especially for the kids and I like sewing them - even if I do need more work !

Fun in the Sun

I will confess that I am not a big fan of summer. I especially dislike the beach, which is funny because as I child I participated in surf life saving! I hate humidity, which again is ironic as I lived for while in Townsville...the humidity capital of Australia (well in my humble opinion). I never step outside unless I am top to toe in hat, sunscreen and sensible clothes and I seek out shade like someone with OCD.

But I must say that after lunch today I decided to blow up the paddling pool and sit outside (in the shade of our tree) and watch the kids splash about. They loved it and I loved watching them. Its the first hot day that would warrant a splash about so far this summer and its already 1/2 way through December. Cant say I'm complaining about that though....

These are some of the appropriate photos as both the kids swam in the nuddy. Makes sense really doesnt it - why put bathers on. Lainey is in bathers in some shots though as that's when she was out of the pool and playing around. The suit is 50+ protective so she wouldn't get burnt.

Op Shop Finds

I managed to get to the Salvation Army store today in Narrogin. I have been meaning to get there for months but its a bit of a hike. This time I was in town at the right time. There was not much on offer and sometimes its hard to poke about with the kids but I did get these craft and quilt magazines as well as a 1969 knitting booklet and another beloved Enid! I also managed to get some Bevknits instruction books for knit sewing...something I am turning my hand to currently.

All of these for the princely sum of ...a donation!

I sewed these for Jack today. They caused me some grief as I am not the best sewer of knit but I like the result. I also learnt a tip or 10 to apply next time! I gave the pants a rib waist which has some elastic in it. Jack has a terribly small waist and I dont want them falling down. The fabric was from Crafty Mamas.

Today I finished off all those little projects that had been mounting up. You know...some binding here, a snap there. So this is whats been done.

Another Christmas bib - this one is reversible...



And some Girly Pouches...made to hold jewelry, notes, small cards, lippy, tampons etc etc. I also made some with felt lining and no pockets as needle wallets as extra present for Christmas. I got the tutorial for these from here...I think they are cute.




So tonight now I am free to continue with other projects without the poor unfinished objects looking at me with sad eyes!

2008 Christmas Pageant

Sunday was the 2008 Christmas Pageant, and this year they held it during the day. 2008 Christmas Pageant

Sunday was the 2008 Christmas Pageant, and this year they held it during the day.
