Tiring Tuesday

Today has been a blur. I am so busy this week I haven't had time to stop and smell the roses!

I have been working hard on the cookbook for handmade, finished off 7 pairs of shorts to send over to the collection point, finished knitting a "beanie for wildlife" - a beanie for injured animals in shelters in Victoria (we are knitting them as a group over at Crafty Mamas) perusing my Phoenix quilt pattern which arrived today and catching up on the Crafty Mamas website which has been offline for almost a week (that's was painful!)

On top of that my pussy cat had to go to the vet - but is fine now she has some medication.

But I have kept to all my to do lists so far and am feeling a sense of achievement.

Here is the knitting pattern for the wildlife beanie of you are interested:

Beanies for Wildlife:

Using size 11 or 3mm needles and 8 ply cast on 100 sts
Work in 1 x 1 rib(k1p1) for 6 inches
Knit 8 sts then k2 tog till the end of this row(this is where you decrease for the top)
Next row purl
Next row (k7 k2tog) till end of row
Next row purl
Continue decreasing like this until there are 10 sts left
Break yarn and thread through remaining sts pull up tight,now sew ends together.

Make one and donate it to a local wildlife shelter. Its so easy to do and great for in front of the telly.

Tomorrow is a busy one too - at this rate the weekend will be here before I know it!

Rising From The Ashes

Whilst perusing some images under various search names in Google, I found this picture of a phoenix stained glass quilt pattern at Oz Quilts.

The blurb that came with it said:

The phoenix is a wonderful symbol of regeneration and renewal. It was said to be a sun bird of great beauty and power which lived within a cycle of being consumed by fire then resurrected or reborn from the ashes.

I immediately thought of the Australian spirit - the Victorian spirit, being reborn out of the ashes. Resurrected to fight another battle, rejuvenating bigger and better than before. It will happen, with our help and their steely determination...there is always hope.

I bought the pattern - I hope to make it a sent it over to someone...so they too can rise form the ashes.
