Sants Claus Is Coming To Kindy

Today a very special man came to kindy to visit Jack and all his class mates. Parents were invited to come too!

He arrived by police car and gave all the children a book present.

Lainey got to sit on his knee the whole time (because she just walked up to him and sat there!)

Then he left by police car...hopefully not because of one too many sherries!

Jack then gave Mike and I our christmas presents....a beautiful key chain and his kindy memory book...this mama cried...I am so proud of him...and I love him to pieces.

Chefs Hat

Ok - so now today I finished the last piece for the kindy dress ups - a chefs hat for the home corner.

I think it looks cool - it was a bit tricky but we got there! It does do up[ properly but my model wouldn't stand still!

The Soldier

Another edition to the dress ups....the soldier. This one was easier because it is basically the fabric that portrays the message....but I found some great star buttons which I sewed on.

Fireman, doctor and chefs hats to come....

The Cowboy and the Policeman

I volunteered to repair and remake some dress ups for Jacks kindy...I already have done the pirate and today I finished the cowboy and the policeman.

The policeman is blue vest and shorts with a black stripe down the side, and a crest and star on the front of the vest. The cowboys vest is recycled jeans and remnant check from SL with a fringe and the chaps are remnant denim from SL with some appliques I got at the oppy and some trim.

Next the fireman and the soldier!

Arr Me Hearties

I had a meeting at Jacks kindy this morning and they asked for a volunteer to repair some of the dress up gear. I of course jumped straight into that one and brought home a bag of sad looking little outfits. Some can be repaired, but I have decided to make new ones! I made the pirate outfit today and am going to make a cowboy, doctor, policeman and fireman. I am going to base it all around a pair of long shorts and a vest. The doc though I will make a white coat. I will also then do some work on the girls gear but surprisingly that's in ok condition.

The outfit has a red sash sewn into the seams and a pirate logo used from the old vinyl vest I took the pattern from. There is also a piece of velcro to do it up and the shorts are oversized so the kids can get them over their school clothes. Thats why I liked the vest idea too as it can go over their clothes easier.

I love doing it. This is why I am a SAHM. I can do these things for my kids school and its a win win. I get to practice my craft and my kids get great dress up gear. I am so proud of this effort - it really hit me today that this is what being a stay at home mum is all about. Being there to help your kids out and go that extra mile.

Oh the t-shirt isnt part of the set - he just happened to be wearing it today !
