The Christening Gown - Part One

I have been asked to make the christening gown for my friends Alannahs baby girl Gabrielja. Alannah was my flower girl all those years ago and now I am making her daughters christening gown...oh i am getting old!

I went shopping on Monday with Alannah, her partner Rokko and Gabby for patterns and fabrics. We selected a pattern at SL. I think it is gorgeous!

Next we headed to Fabulous Fabrics in Balcatta as SL just doesnt have the quality we wanted. This is an amazing store and has such a wide variety of fabrics in all price ranges. As money was no object for Rokko and Alannah we purchased some delustered satin used to make bridal gowns, laces and Swarovski Crystals for me to hand sew into that lace. Rokko wanted bling but the laces with bling built in were too heavy. I am also going to line it and we have some sparkly tulle for the bottom of that.

I am also making a bonnet from the pattern and have already made the mock up of it. I am doing the whole gown in muslin first for fitting as Gabby is a wee thing. I would have that made an ready but once I got the pattern home I discovered there was part of it missing! SL have sorted the situation and the missing piece is in the post but boy was I annoyed last night...but I have the mock bonnet done..its so cute!!! I am going to make the real one out of the satin and line it with the voile. Oh so cute!!

So stay tuned..the first fitting is next Tuesday. Cant wait!
