I made the pattern for this myself - and then constructed it. I'm really proud of doing it from start to scratch and creating my own (not that hard) pattern! The fabric is from SL and is part of a larger piece I bought to make Jack a summery doona cover. I will hopefully be making that this week. The only problem with the hat is the rise may be a bit too tall and the brim a little wide, but I took the measurements off one he already has so we will see how it goes! I like it so much I want one for myself and i have just the fabric to make it. Also the way I made this one it is reversible, so next time I will use two different fabrics.
I bought some of this tonight Insul Bright . I have ordered some fabric from Kelani and I am going to make a new ironing board cover from this tutorial. Mine is horrible and so I thought I would like a new custom one. I like to call this week the soft furnishing week in my house! I plan to make doona covers for everyone including the cot as well as pillows and cushions. Well thats the plan but I guess you never know around here!

Gilly that is such a cute hat! Love the title too.. Definately would love a tutorial! I think these little hats would be a great Christmas gift for nieces and nephews! Love Krisit
ReplyDeleteI love that hat! Very clever lady making your own pattern. Also, I love the fabric and can't wait to see the doona cover. I really like the hawaiian / surfie look for boys - very cute.
ReplyDeleteI'm so impressed you made the hat pattern yourself! I could sit for a million years and never work out how to make a hat! It's so cool, all hawaii and surfboards! Awesome.
